Accessability

Kost castle is located in gracious countryside of Český ráj (Czech paradise). It is very pleasant to combine visit of the castle with visiting other natural and historic sites of interest in the surroundings (e.g. Prachovské skály (Prachov rocks), Hruboskalské skalní město (Hrubá Skála – stony town), Trosky, Valdštejn and Sychrov). You may at many of local hotels and hostels.

It is very difficult to tell you the most suitable route to Kost castle. If you are spending your holiday in Český ráj, you may go there by foot thus making a nice trip in the surroudings. Tracking of your route depends on place where you are accommodated and things you want to see. You will find more info in texts Educational path Plakánek and Castles in the surrounding.

If you plan visit of Kost as a one-day trip, you can get there by a train, bus or car.

By train:

The nearest train station is in Libošovice, which is on a local track 064 Stará Paka – Mladá Boleslav. Kost castle is 2km away from the station and you can get there using yellow tourist track, or you may take the longer path using blue and then red tourist track. The second path is more pleasing, it goes through Prokop walley and through woods with sandstone rocks. Railway station Stará Paka is accessible from Pardubice or Liberec, to Mladá Boleslav we can get easily from Prague or Kolín.

By bus:

During the school year buses drive directly under the castle (bus stops Libošovice, Podkost, hrad), a bus drive daily at 7 a.m. from Sobotka to Kost and approximately at 2 p.m. the bus returns back. Between june and september buses drive only during weekends, but during summer holidays it is possible to use season buses from Sobotka to Mnichovo Hradiště. A bus departs towards the castle at 9 a.m. and returns approximately at 6 p.m.
Better connection is offered by bus stop Libošovice, Podkost, křižovatka Pomníky, where buses from Turnov, Sobotka and Mladá Boleslav drive. The bus stop is located in gracious woods and it is only 1.5 km away from Kost. Red tourist track leads towards the castle from there.

By car:

From Prague:  road  R10 heading to Turnov – near Mladá Boleslav use a slip-road to road 16 heading to Jičín – near Přepeř turn left towards Dobšín-Kost

From Hradec Králové: road 35 heading towards Liberec – near Jičín use a slip-road to road 16 heading to Mladá Boleslav – in Sobotka turn towards Vesec u Sobotky, Podkost, Kost

From Liberec: road 35 heading to Turnov and then to Prague – on slip-road Příšovice turn towards Žďár and Skokovy – Kost

It is possible to park directly under Kost castle.

Parking fees: a car 50 Kč, a bus 80 Kč
